Summer is a great time of year in Illinois, especially if you live in and around Chicago. There is never a shortage of things to do, especially when it comes to festivals. Here are four excellent summertime Chicago festivals you and your family need to attend.

  • Windy City Smokeout. If you love BBQ, bands, and beer, this is the festival for you. It will be held July 15th through the 17th at 560 W Grand Avenue in Chicago. There are a variety of ticket levels, with some including cooking classes, food and drink tasting, special access, and more.
  • Sheffield Music Festival & Garden Walk. On July 23rd and 24th, take a tour of the Garden District of Chicago with self-guided tours through more than 80 gardens, architectural tours, live music, food and drink, and fun activities for the kids.
  • Lollapalooza. Perhaps one of the best known music festivals in the country, Lollapalooza has an extensive lineup of big name groups including Radiohead, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more. It will be held July 28th through the 31st at Grant Park.
  • Chicago Hot Dog Festival. Enjoy everything there is to love about our favorite meat wrapped in a bun—the hot dog. Head to Stockton and LaSalle Drive August 5th through the 7th. Admission is free, but you can purchase discounted “Dog Dollars” in advance so you can enjoy more of what you love.
