Late last month, Mitsubishi announced that its 2018 Outlander PHEV SUV had been named the New England Motor Press Association’s (NEMPA’s) Best Green Winter Vehicle. While Schaumburg Mitsubishi is located here in Illinois and not in New England, our own winters are brutal enough that we can vouch for the Outlander PHEV’s cold-weather worthiness.
So what makes the Outlander PHEV such a good green winter vehicle? It’s the combination of fuel economy afforded by its hybrid system and its superior handling as a crossover SUV. The Outlander PHEV is a parallel hybrid vehicle, boasting a twin electric motor configuration that allows for superior fuel economy, excellent performance, and ideal traction in all terrains and climates. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system provides the sure-footed handling needed in harsh, wintry conditions.
As a further testament to the Outlander PHEV’s efficiency, it comes standard with DC Fast Charging. That makes this Outlander the only plug-in crossover on the market with fast charging capabilities.
NEMPA tested several eligible models on New England streets all winter before determining the winners of its winter awards, including Best Green Winter Vehicle. You can test drive the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV here at Schaumburg Mitsubishi — but please don’t bring any snow with you until December.
