Since its introduction in the 2018 model year, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has offered consumers the perfect combination of family-friendly features and eco-friendly performance. The Outlander PHEV’s electric capabilities are improving even more for 2019, making this plug-in hybrid SUV an even more appealing option. We’re looking forward to offering the new-and-improved Outlander PHEV here at Schaumburg Mitsubishi.
For the 2019 model year, Mitsubishi has increased the Outlander PHEV’s battery capacity by 10%. That means you get more range per charge. This new 13.8 kWh battery pack boasts an all-electric range of 28 miles, which is six more miles than the 2018 model’s battery. It also has a higher top speed in electric mode, allowing the hybrid SUV to get up to 84 mph, whereas last year’s model only achieved 78 mph.
Along with this battery capacity increase, the electric motor output is seeing an increase of about 10% as well. On its own, it puts out 95 horsepower. When it’s paired with the 2.4-liter Atkinson Cycle inline four-cylinder engine, which is a brand-new standard powertrain for this vehicle, this SUV puts out 135 horsepower.
The Outlander PHEV’s electric capabilities aren’t the only improvements seen in the 2019 model. Customers will also notice some upgrades to the cabin as well, including an increase in comfort. Leather seats are now available in the front and there are additional climate control vents in the second row to help your passengers feel more at home. The driver will also find new Sport and Snow modes for maximum traction control.
