The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV recently ranked in the top spot for plug-in hybrid models, according to U.K. sales for 2018. Considering that it beat out last year’s sales figures, it seems that the PHEV is growing increasingly popular. Not only is the Outlander PHEV one of the top PHEV vehicles on the market, but it comes with quality Mitsubishi engineering and an eco-friendly design that should appease environmentally-conscious drivers.
According to The News Wheel, the Outlander PHEV was the plug-in hybrid of choice in the U.K., accounting for a whopping 78 percent of PHEV sales in general. That means nearly 8 out of every 10 customers who wanted to go with a PHEV model chose the Mitsubishi.
“We are delighted with such a strong performance in September over our whole range of vehicles. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV continues to perform well, and the 2019 revisions only broaden the appeal of such a versatile and capable vehicle,” said Rob Lindley, managing director, Mitsubishi Motors in the U.K.
Besides impressive sales stats, the Outlander PHEV also secured the title of “Green SUV of the Year” for 2019 by the Green Car Journal. The model earned recognition at this year’s LA Auto Show, and is getting international attention for its striking design and eco-friendly engineering.
